 As of 1:30 PM CT, it has been reported that the toaster at the Subway on the 600 block of Wabash Ave. is out of order. Frequency Staff is struggling to work at their regular pace despite the deficit in toasted sandwiches. Said Scott Fussey, of Master Control, "This is ridiculous. I can't eat a sandwich if the bread is not evenly crisped. I quit!" He has not been heard from or seen since. Cadaver dogs have been unleashed, and CAC Cami Ross is worried for his safety. CAC Christopher Smith is reportedly in the hospital suffering from cardiac arrest and shock, but he is expected to make a full recovery. A statement from Chris West is expected this evening. Says Macaroni the Fish: "Now those greedy humans will see how it feels to go without food for an unreasonable amount of time!"

Fall Semester, Frequency Flavors and Volunteers!

As fall semester is back in full swing, so it Frequency TV! We just finished up another production of Frequency Flavors this weekend, which will be premiering in mid october. To the right, a sample of what we made.

Earlier this month we had a great time at new student convocation, where tons signed up to volunteer with us. Frequency is always looking for eager volunteers to work on our productions! To Sign up just stop by our office on the 14th floor of 600 S Michigan. After signing up to be a volunteer you will receive a weekly newsletter about productions, which will also be posted here on our blog.

And don't forget, as you began to work on projects this semester, Frequency TV is always looking for student sumbissions to air on TVand the internet!

Production Update

Hey everybody, this is Josh of the Frequency Production staff, here with a blog update for you all. We have some new Get Tipsy's in the works for you: tips on how to stay warm in Chicago. Priceless information if you ask me. Also, keep an eye out for the second episode of The Live Project which will be making it's way into regular programing soon. The musical Guest is Janelle Ja and she puts on a great show. Finally, the elections are upon us and I don't know about you, but I got my tickets for the Obama rally on Tuesday night. Something like 1 million tickets were given away within two days and the waiting list for tickets now is over 700,000. that doesn't mean you shouldn't show up. And if you can't, well keep an eye out for a piece that I and a few others of the Production staff plan on putting together about the rally. That's all I've got for now. SPB Presents: Halloweek Dance Party

SPB Presents: Halloweek Dance Party  This is the Student Programming Board's annual Halloween Dance Party. This year's theme is classic horror. The Voter's Block Party

The Voter's Block Party on Tuesday, November 4th from 6pm to 1am in the Conaway Center. There will be a Red Bull Gaming Lounge with interactive video games. Admission to the event requires each student to present their voter's registration card.

IMPROV ACTORS NEEDED: "The Live Project" is a new series produced by frequency and we need Volunteer IMPROV ACTORS. It will be a structured improv show broadcast live on Frequency's web site and around the campus. You will need to be available for two pre-production meetings (Tuesday 9/16 & 9/23/08) from 5pm-9pm The first broadcast date is Tuesday September 30 at 8pm. WGN-TV is Hiring Fall Web Interns!

I am now in my last week of my internship with WGN-TV as a Web Intern. WGN is the BEST place to work. The people are really genuinly nice, the equipment is state of the art, and you learn so much about the TV news process.

Despite the strange hours of my shift from 2-10pm every night, I must say that it has been such a great experience for me that I don't want the internship to end. I have learned the Tribune content management system, how to use my news judgement when getting stories onto the web, and so much more.

Tat-Stats, Geekin' Out, Get Tipsy! Oh my!

Howdy, folks! This is Kyle Hafkey, one of your Freq-tastic producers here at Columbia's own Frequency TV. I'm checking out how to do this blog thing, so I won't bore you with TOO many details regarding my work and the work of the other awesome staff members here a FTV. HOWEVER! I am excited to say that Episode 1 of Tat-Stats will be entered into Master Control very soon. 

"What is Tat-Stats," you say? Tat-Stats is one of Columbia's newest shows, created by yours truly. It's a short form show that profiles Columbia students and their tattoos. You see, like television, tattoos are expressions of narrative through a visual form. Or, in simpler terms, tattoos tell stories through pictures, as does television. Which is why the union of the two is a match made in heaven... also Columbia students, for some reason, spend more money on tattoos than they do on food (how else do they fit into those skinny jeans and punk-petti coats?). Episode 2 is being filmed tomorrow (7/31/08) and expect it to be on the air soon! In other news, my second pilot is set to air next week. Geekin' Out is my new show that's all things geeky. It profiles the best in comic books, movies, gadgets, and gaming, and is hosted by Frequency's own starlet, Evan Schmitt. Our first episode was shot at Wizard World Chicago, the second largest comic book convention in America. It is scheduled to be put in Master Control next week! And Episode 2, where we profile the retro gaming store People Play Games, will be following the week after. In case some of you don't know what Critical Encounters is, it's a program that goes on every year at Columbia which showcases lectures, panels, programs and other events that center on one major social issue. Last year, the theme was Poverty and Privillage. This year, the theme is Human Nature, which profiles humans and their interaction with nature, as well as the nature of humanity in general. It's kind of a broad term. Anywho, our lovely Powers That Be have decreed that we're required to make one piece a month dedicated to the cause of Critical Encounters. I just finished a Get Tipsy about water conservation, and I'm about to start meetings with the Lincoln Park Zoo to negotiate an episode of Geekin' Out about wildlife conservation. Should be pretty fun! Nothing spells fun like Evan Schmitt, in a wet suit, in a tank filled with otters. Anywhoo, kiddies! That's all for now. I gotta go chit-chat with my fearless leader.
